Commissions & Projects
Every project starts with a conversation, because the needs of a touring band, a local business owner, or a growing family are rarely the same.
That said, I know it’s helpful to have a sense of what working together looks like before reaching out. The information below outlines how commissions are structured, along with general starting points — not rigid pricing.
Musicians & Bands
Asheville Studio • On Location • Regional Travel
I’ve worked with musicians for most of my career, and I understand that budgets, timelines, and expectations can vary wildly — especially for independent artists.
Music-related commissions can take place:
- In my Asheville studio
- On location around Asheville
- Throughout the broader region, depending on the project
Music projects are priced based on scope — what the images are for, how they’ll be used, and how much needs to be accomplished in the time we have.
For planning purposes:
- Most music-related commissions begin below standard commercial starting points
- Smaller, focused projects are possible for artists who need strong, honest imagery without overbuilding the scope
If you're unsure whether a project fits your budget, I encourage you to reach out anyway. A clear conversation is always better than assumptions — on both sides.
The goal is to create work that feels true to who you are, not to force a one-size-fits-all approach.
Commissioned Portraiture
Individuals • Businesses • Personal & Professional Use
This category includes commissioned work for:
- Headshots
- Personal branding
- Small businesses and entrepreneurs
- Lifestyle and personal use
- Maternity and family-focused sessions
Portrait commissions based in Asheville and Western North Carolina typically begin at $1,250.
These projects are designed for people who want thoughtful, well-crafted imagery that represents them accurately — not just something quick or transactional. Most portrait commissions involve planning, direction, and careful editing to ensure the final images feel cohesive and intentional.
This starting point reflects the full scope of the work, not just time spent shooting.
Travel & Regional Commissions
North Carolina • South Carolina • Georgia • Tennessee
I regularly take on commissions throughout the Southeast, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee.
Travel-based projects typically begin at $2,000, with final pricing determined by:
- Location and travel requirements
- Project scope
- Intended usage
- Timeline
Travel commissions are quoted individually and built around the needs of the project rather than mileage or day rates. If the work is a good fit, distance alone is rarely a barrier.
What Goes Into a Commission
While no two projects are identical, commissions generally include:
- Pre-shoot planning and creative input
- Direction during the shoot to keep things relaxed and efficient
- Editing for tone, consistency, and longevity
- Images designed to function across websites, social platforms, and promotional use
The emphasis is always on creating work that actually gets used, not just delivered.
How Projects Are Priced
Final pricing is shaped by:
- Scope and complexity
- Location and logistics
- Number of final images
- Intended usage
- Scheduling or rush considerations
Because of this, the most accurate way to quote a project is always through a short conversation.
Next Steps
If any of this feels aligned, reach out and tell me a bit about what you’re working on. You don’t need to have everything mapped out — a rough idea is plenty.
From there, we’ll figure out whether it makes sense to move forward. Feel free to email me with your project-related info or let me know a good time to chat and we can discuss by phone.
