Sandlin Gaither is an Asheville-based photographer known for intimate, character-driven portraits and documentary work.
Sandlin's work includes portraits of more than 500 musical acts, along with studio and environmental portraits of performers, writers, chefs, artists, and creatives whose work has left a lasting mark on American culture.
Sandlin’s photography has appeared in major national and international publications, across album artwork, editorial features, exhibitions, and long-form documentary projects. His travel work spans four continents, from remote regions of South America and North Africa to Southeast Asia, where his focus remains on place, atmosphere, and human presence.
Today, Sandlin works by private commission, creating portraits for individuals who value collaboration, discretion, and images built to endure. His process is deliberately personal, designed to put clients at ease and allow something honest to surface. He accepts a limited number of projects each year.
