Sandlin Gaither is a self-taught photographer based in Asheville, North Carolina.  Sandlin grew up performing music, playing in bands, and working in music venues before getting behind the camera, where he's been for the past decade.  When not photographing musicians, Sandlin can be found singing Tom Waits songs on guitar with his daughter, Lucy, or traveling to distant lands with his camera to document foreign cultures.  You can see more of Sandlin's work at

Sandlin spent ten years (2006-2016) working on staff at the legendary Grey Eagle Music Hall in Asheville, North Carolina, where he photographed portraits of the musicians performing each night.  This unique collection captures the performers as they appeared on the day they played the Grey Eagle Music Hall, and offers an insightful perspective into a decade of American Music.  Selections from this collection appear in the gallery 'Ten Years at a Music Hall.'
